- Focus Area: Hunger and Homelessness
Approximately 82,000 people are homeless on any given night in Los Angeles County. And an estimated 254,000 men, women and children will experience homelessness in LA this year.
While there are many neighborhood and campus organizations that work to address homelessness in our community, it is vital that we support one another’s efforts and grow a movement to alleviate this crisis.
The National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week kicks off on November 9th. There are so many things to be involved in throughout the week that you can take part in to understand a problem that plagues LA and enrich your USC experience!
Here's a quick sample of some of the events that will be going down during the week:
- “Surviving the Nickel” a performance by Dramastage Qumran. Friday, November 9th, 7pm. Ground Zero Cafe.
- Lunch distribution with A Community Place. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 11am-1pm. Saint Marks Lutheran Church.
- Networking Lunch with campus and community organizations that work to address hunger and homelessness. Thursday, November 15th, 12-1:30pm. URC 108.
